#001: Exploring the creation process of Legend of the Yeti

A Note from Jol:

Thank you to everyone who sent in a question or stories!
I wish I had infinite hours to answer every. single. question. But alas, time is very real, so I won’t take up any more of yours!

Here’s the first question of Clued In!

Question of the Month:

What is the process of taking an idea and turning it into a room?

Submitted by Rebecca

What a GREAT question to kick off 2026 with, Rebecca!

Starting a new year is all about beginnings, new habits, and mayyyybe a new game on the horizon (but you didn’t hear that from me!)

Let’s revisit our last released game to help me answer your question, as Legend of the Yeti was truly such a fun experience to craft!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW:

The Game Designer's Perspective:

“Play testing is huge. It’s the core thing of what we do. Regardless of how we think a puzzle will be experienced, all that matters is how the guest interacts with it.

If a puzzle is frustrating, we’ll cut it completely. Nothing is sacred to us; we’d modify anything. Yeti had changes up until the last day of play testing.“

Building Magic

From Sketch to Finish!

All of our games, and their various components go through and extensive creation process! They go from conceptualization, to a few rounds of mockups, to an extensive built process, and finally receive final approval from our Quality Control team.

The Sketch

Step one: Our designers conceptualize the foundation of the puzzle, the build of the mechanics, and the overall functionlity!

BONUS question!

I just had to start 2026 off with a bang, so we’re doing TWO questions today!!

I think there is an opportunity for TEG to offer long-form youtube videos featuring the soundtracks from TEG games. I would especially love to add the music from Sabotage to my regular playlist. It was stuck in my head for months after playing the game, but I can't remember how it goes anymore. Anyway, you guys rock! I recommend your games to friends all the time.

BEST.IDEA.EVER.

Ben, this has got to be one of the coolest ideas ever sent to us. Our team had SO much fun creating this! (Maybe too much fun if I’m honest... We kinda went crazy with this...)

I hope you get some good studying/relaxing in to these smooth beats!

(P.S watch carefully around the 4 minute mark to see my favorite part!)
